ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Visitors to Poland often focus on major cities such as Warsaw and Krakow, but the country abounds in historical, cultural, and natural treasures elsewhere. Join Christopher Skutela, author, teacher, and tour guide, as he leads a visual journey to places in Poland that are off the beaten path.
Among the sites he reveals are the Wooden Architecture Trail in the mountain area of the Krakow region; Tarnow, which housed a strong Jewish community until World War II; the Swietokrzyskie region with the medieval Holy Cross Monastery and lesser-known oldest mountain range in Poland; Lodz, which used to unite three cultures and was one of the main centers of the textile industry in Europe; Torun, the UNESCO World Heritage Site where Copernicus was born; and the area of Karkonosze and the Table Mountains, which have a rich variety of historic and natural hidden gems.
