About the event
Based on both manuscript and published source materials, David and Ginger Hildebrand have crafted a selection of music from the Old and New Worlds, infused with American fervor, pride, and a growing appreciation for France. Drawn from period sources, the program includes pieces composed to mark significant events; songs enjoyed by citizens, officers, and soldiers alike; lively dance tunes of the era; military ballads; and instrumental works performed at impromptu theatrical presentations and concerts during Lafayette’s visits to America. This program is presented as part of our celebration of the Bicentennial of the Marquis de Lafayette’s farewell tour of the United States.
